.....isang pong mainit na pagbati sa mga ginigiliw na sumusubaybay sa ating
pinananabikang palatuntunang DZUPIS'80!
.....sana ay nasa mabuti kayong kalagayan at may kagalakan sa inyong mga puso
( background sound -- roosters crowing, mga alaga namin )

.....sa mga kapwa kong inabot ng Ondoy noong nakaraang taon, let us give thanks
for another year gone by...
.....sa mga kinalampag ko noong dumaan ang Ondoy - sina Paul, Popo, Carlo - at
sa tulong bilang pakikiisa ng batch, maraming salamat....
.....special thanks to Carlo who, despite discovering that I'm the batch
treasurer, carried on with collecting donations, also through his paypal account
( abonado pa nga siya) for the Ondoy Fund...
.....btw, seedlings from the mango seeds I planted last summer have just been
transplanted... a fitting marker a year after Ondoy.... I hope they'll be sturdy
enough by summer....
.....and the roosters and cackling hens providing the background sound are
progeny of the few that survived Ondoy :)

Subject: haiku

Ginang, Binibining, DJ Spes,

Isang maiinit na pag-bati mula sa kaibayuhang dagat dito sa lupain na
ginagisnan ni Pochahantas. Ako po ay isang masugid na tagasubaybay ng
inyong palatuntunan magmula pa ng simula . Ako din po ay isang tapat
ninyong tagapaghanga. Ang mga liham at sulatin ninyo ay kamangha-mangha
na nakapag-dudulot ng saya at ng mga balitang kaaya-aya.

Itago n'yo na lang ako sa pangalang John Smith. Ako ay dating si Juan de
la Cruz, subalit pinalitan po ang aking pangalang nuong ako'y
naging lubusan ng mamayan ng bansang dinayuhan.

Ipagpaumanhin po ninyo kung 'di gaanong maayos ang aking
pag-gamit sa wikang tagalong. May katagalan na rin po kasi akong
naninirahan sa labas ng ating bansa at 'di na ako gaanong bihasa sa
pag-sulat sa ating sariling wika. Pero, nakakahiya 'man pong ilathala, 'di rin
po ako bihasa sa wikang banyaga.

….blah blah blah ... here it goes, my first stab at Haiku, I
don't know if you could write more than one block at a time, but this is
what I came up with. All I know is that each block should have 4 lines,
7 syllables per line and that end of all lines rhyme.

Para Sa aking "BFF":

Heto na ang address ko
Dalawin naman ako.
Dos-ocho, tabing Poso,
Kalyeng puno ng Osyoso.

Kung ikaw ay maligaw
Sa balak mong pagdalaw,
Sundan lang alingawngaw
Sankatutak na langaw.

Sa tabi ng bahay ko
Maraming galang aso.
Sa tapat ay may bangko
Sa lasenggo ay puno.

Kaya naman kaibigan
Dito na manuluyan,
'Di kulang sa inuman
Nagkalat pang pulutan!

too sure of the structual requirements of the haiku but your creation is much,

person, ha, in fairness. 
Btw, I can forgive you for missing MJ's This Is It 
movie but please don't miss the chance to see SIGWA directed by Joel Lamangan. I 
heard the film will be screened in the US, too, kaya kahit doon mo na lang 
panoorin in October.

....isa nanamang panawagan ang sumasainyo dito lamang sa pinaka-aabangang
palatuntunang DZUPIS'80!

....sana ay nasa maayos kayong kalagayan, mga ka-batch....

Sa kasalukuyan ay binubuo na po ang panibagong board para sa ating UPIS Batch
'80 Foundation.
Inaanyayahan ang mga tropa na pumili ng kani-kanilang representative para maging
board member. Syempre, dating mantra- dapat lahat kasama- kahit silent type ang
tropa niyo. Ok lang kahit puro good-looking kayo basta ang mahalaga may
kinatawan kayo para marinig ang inyong tinig at makibahagi kayo sa mga proyekto.
Hindi rin naman kailangang magpasikat dahil magkakabatch din lang naman ang
magtatawanan at magkukwentuhan kapag may mga meeting. Culinary & bartending
skills will help para naman exciting ang menu kahit potluck ang meetings. Kindly
submit names to Herman.

Oh, this early please block off December 29, 2010, wednesday, for our annual
pre-New Year gathering. The following day will be a holiday so it shouldn't be a
problem. It will be held at Mariko & Dave's Luyong Restaurant in Marikina, to
start at 5pm. Start thinking of a nice hat to wear to the party, and a white
elephant item for exchanging and stealing gifts. Siguro naman, your tropa will
have more than enough time to prepare for a song or dance number :)

And, Janina, naaalala ko 'yon. At yung mga sikreto natin noong araw ay top
secret pa rin! At alam mo ba, yang si Syl? Si Manny? Nito ko na lang naman
nakahalubilo yang mga 'yan....ang lulutong kung tumawa...

Sa mga heartwarming na pasalamat na pinahayag para sa inyong lingkod, allow me
to take a really slow & deep bow....ooops, yung reading glasses ko, baka
malaglag nga pala....my reminder that it's been over 30 years....

O, yung salamin niyo, baka malimutan niyong atop your head lang pala....but of

"isang pag-ibig," was the casually intoned request from a woman that shook me 
out of my reverie
it flashed through may mind to say, "ako rin, ho" and then
I realized she was handing me her fare to be handed over to the jeepney 
driver...
and she was getting off at the PAG-IBIG (Home Development Mutual Fund) office 
along Buendia Ave., in Makati....

with that let me welcome you once again to....
isa nanamang yugto dito sa pinkasikat na himpilang DZUPIS'80!
kumusta pong muli mga ginigiliw na sana ay sumusubaybay pa rin sa e-group kahit 
nagkakanda FB na talaga ang mga mid-lifers....

Since the panic button is about to be pressed, we're having a meeting at Mario Molina's on June 19, saturday 6pm, to tie up still the many loose ends for our big affair. Of course, dating gawi, potluck pa rin ang food and drinks...at para sa mga unaware. matagal na po kaming naka reunion mode so do come and join us for another festive gathering...mabuti na rin to familiarize yourselves with the 30 years later faces and match them with your mental images of them from way back...ito naman kasing si Syl, sasabihan akong kamayan ang isang kasama tapos tatanungin ako kung sino yung kinamayan ko...aba, hindi naman madali malagay sa ganoong spot, 'no?

oh, some people were asking who sent the pahabol line last time and for whom...sorry, my lips are sealed....but welcome that because it assures you your secrets are safe with me... :) ok, ito, ah, na-e-entertain ako sa pag-d-dj...

and yes, mga ginigiliw na sumusubaybay, pati pala cigarettes, na ka-sachet na ngayon sa sari-sari store katulad ng mga hair shampoo...

...sana ay nasa maayos kayong lagay, mga ginigiliw na sumusubaybay....

...at bago kayo mag-relax ng tuluyan, siguraduhin nyo lang po na nakapagpahayag na kayo ng inyong pagdalo sa ating July 10 Pearl
Anniversary affair at kung ilan ang inyong panauhin na isasama upang mabuo ang ating guest list at headcount for downpayment purposes sa venue...aba, pati pagpaparis ng table cloths at napkins- as in texture and color combinations ay kasama sa usapan which goes to show how much attention and effort is being poured into this event....sayang naman if we will miss your company at such an affair....

....A number of classmates have communicated with Syl, and a classmate I spotted at church confirmed he'll be there, contrary to the rumors I earlier heard...so, mga ginigiliw na sumususbaybay, please make sure your attendance to our affair has been confirmed...

....also, start airing the disco outfit from your baul...we don't want to be mothball scented as we indulge in those unforgettable dance moves and steps...kaya nga habang nagpaplantsa ako, sinasabayan ko na yung tugtog ng dance steps at kahit markings lang muna yung arm and hand movements...kasama sa insayo yan because it primes the brain for the full execution of movements...ingat lang na hindi masunog ang pinaplantsa...

....by the way, maybe we can do another fund raiser....since many of us are part of the diaspora, or some are simply wanderers/adventurers/obligatory travellers, how about a collection of landscape pictures taken by batchmates wherever, over the years and turning them into a set of single fold cards to serve as any occasion greeting cards...why landscapes?...eh kasi wide appeal even to non-batchmates and more importantly, because our Pearl Anniversary is a collective marker of a point in our individual journeys.... and landscapes as silent witnesses to these journeys ...at sa totoo lang, this is to substitute for the fund raiser sale of nude paintings some classmates were more than willing to pose for, for the sake of (abstract) art... So, just label your wonderfully awesome landscape pictures and send them with pride and utmost generosity -with no expectation of compensation kasi fund raiser nga eh- to Andoy for compilation... 

....yung mga presentation niyo sa program natin, ha? Dapat polishing touches na lang ay bonggang-bongga na for the big night!
Who knows! You may just be the next "surprise batch idol"

Hi guys,

We had so much fun last night at Cesar and Zari's house discussing the program for our reunion. Dumating sina Senen, Debbie and Omee from Paranaque, Andoy from Bulacan, Acis M. from his tour around the world (he works on a cruise liner as a pastry chef), Hermie, Mario M., and of course si Herman. I posted some pictures sa FB account ko.

We have 31 days to go before the reunion, malapit na yon kaya we would like to remind everybody to inform us if you want to participate or perform para mas masaya, to start sending your pictures to Manny and confirm your attendance.

We really have to do a head count before the event, and only those who will confirm will be counted for the dinner buffet. All you have to do is CLICK the ATTENDING option sa invite that Raffy and Dindo posted. If you have a guest, please indicate plus one or two. Again, if you're a sponsor (donated at least P5,000 for the event), you are allowed to bring one guest free of charge. Aside from that, only batch mates are free of charge. 

If you are bringing a guest along and you're not a sponsor, you can pay upon registration, charge is P1,000/head. We'll have a list prepared for those who are attending and will indicate if you have a guest.

Even if you are a sponsor, please indicate also if you are bringing a guest along.

If you are married to a batch mate and both of you are attending (like me and Dodo, Herman and Aleli, Eva and Gil, etc), please indicate plus one also unless the spouse will confirm on his own.

Please do not assume that we already know if you are attending or not, we have to see it in black and white so that we can update our list. Di po namin nababasa ang isip niyo, ok?

So far, ang confirmed pa lang who will bring a guest along are Renan, May Ann and Syl (ako po yon).

DISCO po ng theme natin and sa July 10, 2010 ang ating reunion to be held on the 42nd floor (awesome view!) of Discovery Suites.

And to be able to do that, all we need from the rest of the batch mates are konting time to attend the remaining meetings in preparation for the reunion, send your hs pictures na nakatago sa baul and reply to our email and start the ball rolling.

To those who won't be able to come home, alam niyo na kasama namin kayo in spirit and that we truly appreciate all the help and assistance that you extended sa batch to make this reunion possible.
